Composition: Contains glycine betaine from plant origin. Glycine betaine is an osmolyte naturally enhancing abiotic stress tolerance in plants.

Key benefits: Protects plants against negative effects of environmental stresses. Glycine betaine maintains the water balance in plant cells, improves the circulatory flow of water and nutrients and enhances photosynthesis during environmental stresses such as heat, cold, drought, and salinity.

Instructions for use

Mode of action: LALSTIM OSMO is based on glycine betaine which occurs naturally in many plant species. In the plants glycine betaine acts as an osmoprotectant by adjusting the osmotic balance inside the plant cells and tissues during environmental stress.

Application method: LALSTIM OSMO is applied as a foliar spray by normal agricultural spray equipment.

Adjuvant recommendation: For optimal penetration of LALSTIM OSMO through the leaf surface, the use of adjuvant is recommended. Ideally, the application should take place either in early morning or late evening when the relative humidity is high.

For most target crops LALSTIM OSMO should be applied during flowering, because that is the time when the plants are most sensitive to environmental stresses. For example, in the case of cotton the rate of water use increases significantly during the flowering period. Water stress generally causes decrease in flowering. LALSTIM OSMO acts inside the plant as an osmoprotectant improving the plants’s tolerance against environmental stresses including water stress and thereby promoting flower and fruit retention. Depending on the target crop, LALSTIM OSMO is applied at early, mid or late flowering. LALSTIM OSMO has a long-lasting effect, because the active ingredient of LALSTIM OSMO, glycine betaine, remains unmetabolized inside the plant tissues for several weeks. Thus a single spray secures osmoprotection for the entire flowering period.
LALSTIM OSMO is based on glycine betaine which occurs naturally in many organisms, including human beings. It is recommended that impermeable gloves, protective eyewear, and a respiration mask be used when handling the product in solid state. During handling, formation of dust should be avoided. Continuous exposure to LALSTIM OSMO dust may cause an allergic reaction. LALSTIM OSMO has not been classified as toxic. In other words, accorging to a number of toxicity trials LALSTIM OSMO is not expected to present an acute health hazard under normal conditions. In an unopened package LALSTIM OSMO’s shelf life is 2 years if stored in a dry and cool place. LALSTIM OSMO is a hygroscopic product, and therefore it is important to protect it from high relative air humidity during storage.
The use of an adjuvant or a wetting agent is recommended in connection with LALSTIM OSMO application of every target crop. It has been shown in several trials that use of an adjuvant improves the effect of LALSTIM OSMO significantly. The effect of an adjuvant is based on reduced surface tension of the spray solution and improved penetration of the spray solution through leaf surface. By that way use of an adjuvant enhances the effectiveness of the LALSTIM OSMO spray solution. Be sure to add the adjuvant into the LALSTIM OSMO spray solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
